Long before carbon accounting became a regulatory requirement, France pioneered comprehensive greenhouse gas accounting through the Bilan Carbone® methodology. For more than 20 years, the methodology has placed strong emphasis on measuring Scope 3 emissions, an area that remains the largest source of emissions for most organisations.
Since 2011, IFC.D has been training consultants, sustainability professionals and corporate teams to apply the Bilan Carbone® methodology in practice. This experience has enabled thousands of professionals to build robust carbon accounting capabilities and support organisations in meeting today’s climate reporting and decarbonisation challenges.
Today, the Bilan Carbone® methodology provides a strong foundation for organisations preparing climate disclosures under the CSRD, particularly ESRS E1, while also helping them identify meaningful emission reduction opportunities.
